Your reading stays yours.
READREFLEX is designed as a local-first reading tool. We do not operate an account system, advertising network or analytics service, and we do not upload page photographs or scanned text to a READREFLEX-operated server. Saved iPhone Library fields can synchronize through Apple's private iCloud/CloudKit storage for your account.
Who is responsible
The developer of READREFLEX is responsible for the limited personal information described in this notice. For privacy questions or requests, email privacy@readreflex.com.
Information stored on your device
Saved quotes, book titles, authors, page numbers and rotation choices are stored locally on your device. The iPhone app shares its local cache only with its own widget through Apple's private App Group storage. The web app stores its separate library in your browser's local storage.
Private iCloud synchronization
The iPhone app stores saved Library fields and deletion history in your private iCloud/CloudKit database so your Library can be restored and kept in sync across your Apple devices. This uses the Apple ID already signed into iCloud; READREFLEX has no separate account or login. Sync and backup are free features. If iCloud is unavailable, the app continues working locally and retries later. Records in your private CloudKit database are not visible to the READREFLEX developer in CloudKit Console.
Camera, photos and text recognition
Camera and Photos access are used only when you choose to scan or import a page and to create the READREFLEX wallpaper album. Text recognition and wallpaper rendering run on your iPhone. Generated wallpapers remain in your Photos library under your control.
Website and support
The web app keeps its Library in your browser's local storage. The website is delivered by Render and its network providers, which may process ordinary connection information such as IP address, browser details and requested pages to deliver and secure the service. READREFLEX does not use this information for advertising or behavioural analytics. If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any information you choose to include so we can respond.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple. READREFLEX checks Apple's signed purchase entitlement on your device to unlock Unlimited; it does not receive or store your payment-card details.
Why information is handled
Information is handled to provide the features you request and, where applicable, perform our contract with you. Support correspondence and basic service-security information are handled for our legitimate interests in answering requests, maintaining READREFLEX and preventing misuse. Information may also be retained where necessary to comply with a legal obligation. Camera and Photos permissions can be withdrawn in iOS Settings; the affected features will then stop working.
Service providers, sharing and transfers
READREFLEX does not sell personal information, show behavioural ads or track you across other companies' apps and websites. Apple provides private iCloud storage and processes App Store subscriptions. Render and its network providers deliver and protect the website. These providers may process information outside the United Kingdom under the safeguards and terms that apply to their services. We do not share page photographs, scanned text or your private Library with advertisers or data brokers.
Retention and deleting your data
Delete individual lines or whole books inside the Library. Removing the line also removes its app-generated wallpaper from Photos and synchronizes the deletion to private iCloud. A minimal deletion marker containing the record identifier and deletion time may remain in private iCloud so an older offline device cannot restore the deleted quote; the quote, book, author and page are removed from that record. Export a separate copy first if you want to keep it. Removing the app removes its local cache but does not by itself delete the private iCloud copy. You can manage READREFLEX data through the app and Apple's iCloud storage controls. Clearing browser site data removes the separate web Library. Support correspondence is kept only as long as reasonably necessary to answer the request, maintain an appropriate record and meet legal obligations. Hosting providers retain technical records according to their own operational and legal requirements.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information we control. Send requests to privacy@readreflex.com. Because private CloudKit records are not accessible to us, manage those records in READREFLEX or through Apple's iCloud controls. UK users may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Children and changes
READREFLEX is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect children's personal information. We may update this notice when the product or its data practices change. The date at the top identifies the current version.
